Specialty Surgery

Dr. James Winkler, Diplomate ACVS, has joined Windcrest Animal Hospital to provide advanced surgery services. Dr. Winkler is able to perform a wide variety of surgical procedures including orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, laser procedures, thoracic and lumbar surgery as well as emergency procedures. He is also highly experienced in portal systemic shunts.

Our highly experienced surgical staff performs procedures from minimally invasive laparoscopic and laser procedures to complex surgeries such as Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) for cranial cruciate ligament rupture. Surgeries are done in dedicated OR suites under "clean-room" technology, similar to those found in human hospitals. A dedicated OR suite is available for major procedures. Our high level of cleanliness can assist in decreasing fewer post operative complications. Animals are constantly under the watchful eyes of our technicians at all times during induction, surgery and recovery under our heated blankets. Vital signs including heartbeat, oxygen level and end tidal CO2 are continuously monitored during the surgical procedures.
