Dr. Don W. Coats

Dr. Don W. Coats, DVM graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966 and has been practicing at Centreville Veterinary Hospital for 40 years. He is pleased to continue active practice in a profession that, different than any other, provides the unique life experiences of observation, learning and healing …“We follow pets through their life spans and observe human families grow and mature, expand and return. Veterinarians are very fortunate to serve and view into our culture and into medicine through the particular portal that the profession provides. |
Don loves bird watching and the study of natural history. He enjoys running, fly fishing and backpacking. He and his wife Marti are active in Lower Brandywine Church and he, in the Centreville Civic Association. They have raised four children, now have four grandchildren, two rescue terriers, three cats and three bee hives.
Dr. Margaret J. White
Dr. Margaret J. White, DVM graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 1997. She joined the team at Centreville Veterinary Hospital in June 2007 and is currently an Associate Veterinarian and Joint Chief of Staff. Dr. White enjoys surgery, emergency medicine, and has a special interest in small mammal medicine. |
Dr. White shares her home with her husband Chris, step-son Caleb, a gentle St. Bernard mix named Dreyfus, a rambunctious black cat named Timmy and Gidget the ferret. In her free time she competes in triathlons, travels, gardens and hikes.

Dr. Jennifer Dawkins

Jennifer Dawkins, DVM graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and is currently an Associate Veterinarian at Hockessin Animal Hospital. Dr. Dawkins knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age. She is a member of AVMA and the Delaware Veterinary Medical Assoc. |
Dr. Dawkins grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and her family includes husband Morgan, also a veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital, and her children Collin, Bailey, Sidney and Trevor. Family pets include dogs, Spot and Gilly, cats Taz, Tibby and Tahlula, a rabbit named Luna, a guinea pig named Max, 2 Chinchillas, Izzy and Kylie, 2 tortoises, Tortellini and Jack, salt water fish and a pen full of ducks and chickens. In her spare time, Dr. Dawkins enjoys mosaic and stained glass artwork as well as reading.
Dr. Janet B. Mitchell

Janet Mitchell, VMD graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and is currently an Associate Veterinarian of Hockessin Animal Hospital. Dr. Mitchell has a special interest in Dentistry. Her love of animals and helping people inspired her to become a veterinarian. She still finds helping people help their pets live happy, healthy lives the most rewarding part of her job. |
Dr. Mitchell is a member of the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary medical Association since 1990. She was President of the DVMA in 2003 and has also been a member of the Hockessin/Greenville Rotary since 1995.
Dr. Mitchell and her husband Jim own and operate the Woodside Farm Creamery located in Hockessin. They milk their own Jersey Cows and make homemade hand-dipped ice cream that they sell at the farm. Dr. Mitchell has a family of pets including her cats, KC and Kittin; and dogs, Lucky, a Basset Hound, and Jake, a Bulldog.

Dr. Kathryn Stoltzfus
Dr. Kathryn Stoltzfus, BSc, BVSc, MRCVS graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1994 and is currently Chief of Staff at Talleyville Veterinary Hospital. She has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery, geriatric medicine, and dentistry. Dr. Stoltzfus was inspired to be a veterinarian from an early age after reading James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small. The most memorable part of her career was when she volunteered in the Himalayas. She participated in a spay/neuter and rabies vaccination project and was lucky to be called upon to help a local leopard at the Royal Himalayan Zoo (surgery at 12,000ft outdoors!) In her spare time she volunteers her time at Faithful Friends Shelter. |
Dr. Stoltzfus is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, Cornell Feline Health Center, Delaware Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Dental Society, International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and American Animal Hospital Association. She has served the local veterinary community as Newcastle County representative for the DVMA Board and is accredited by the USDA.
She and her husband, David, have a family of animals including a Dalmatian, Rudy; Terrier mix, Fongo; American Staffordshire, Jack; and a Himalayan cat, Muffin. In her spare time, Dr. Stoltzfus enjoys Tae Kwan Do, skiing, bicycling and gourmet food.

Dr. Cheryl L. Bell

Cheryl L. Bell, VMD is an Associate Veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital. She graduated from Duke University in 1991 and received her veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Formerly in advertising and marketing but pursuing a childhood dream to be a veterinarian, Dr. Bell spent three years in a premedical studies program in New York City while working full-time as a marketing executive in order to be admitted to veterinary medical school.

Dr. Bell has volunteered for numerous animal rescue organizations and shelters in New York, Philadelphia and locally. She has fostered literally hundreds of cats in danger of euthanasia in shelters prior to finding new adoptive parents.
Dr. Bell lives in Landenberg, PA with her husband Bob, son Cole and a dog named Tillie.
Dr. Karen Brockman

Karen Brockman, VMD, is currently a member of the Emergency and Critical Care Team at Windcrest Animal Hospital. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She then went on to complete a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia in 2009. Other medical interests include internal medicine, radiology and surgery. The most rewarding part of emergency medicine for Dr. Brockman is to help her patients get well and see them reunited with their families.

Dr. Brockman has volunteered for Pals For Life, a pet therapy organization in Radnor, Pennsylvania for 10 years, and has volunteered for several rescue organizations as a veterinarian. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, Delaware Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Brockman received a Master’s Degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado, and worked as an archaeologist and then as a museum director. She has 2 dogs, Victor a 12-year-old terrier mix, and Lucy, a 10-year-old husky/lab mix. She enjoys nature travel, Native American culture and history, watching movies, hiking and spending time with family.
Dr. Carolyn Cassidy
Carolyn Cassidy, VMD graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 and is currently a part-time veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital. Dr. Cassidy's areas of interest are medicine and Ultrasonography. Dr. Cassidy has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember, always possessing the strong desire to help and care for all animals. The memorable experiences of Dr. Cassidy's are all associated with her saving an animal that was critically ill and had a poor prognosis and she made them well. Helping the animals feel better and seeing them respond to treatment is the most rewarding part of her job. |
Dr. Cassidy's family includes husband Timothy and three daughters, Anna, Elizabeth, and Rebecca. Her family of animals includes her dog, Isabella and cats Lovey, Willow and Phantom. In her spare time, Dr. Cassidy enjoys running, gardening, cooking and hiking.
Dr. Anthony Dallatore

Dr. Anthony Dallatore, VMD graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and is currently an Associate Veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital. Dr. Dallatore has an interest in exotic animal medicine, internal medicine, surgery and dentistry. In previous years, Dr. Dallatore was a Veterinary Technician at Windcrest before attending Veterinary school.
Having always had an overwhelming gravitation toward the field, the most rewarding part of his job is being able to enjoy what he does everyday and hopes he makes a difference in his client's and patient's lives. |
Dr. Anthony is the proud father of twin boys, Sebastiano Donato and Donte' Michael born in June 2009. His wife, Mary Ann is a licensed Veterinary Technician. In addition to their new babies, they have a three-legged Papillion named Georgio, a Havenese named Hairiette, three Domestic Short Hair cats named, Sebastian, Sasha and Noel, a Persian cat named Isabella and 2 ferrets named Achilles and Oscar. Dr. Dallatore also enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and fishing and is a volunteer at handicap and juvenile fishing programs.
Dr. Bruce Damme
Bruce Damme, VMD graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 and is currently Co-Owner of Windcrest Animal Hospital, Hockessin Animal Hospital, Talleyville Veterinary Hospital and Centreville Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Damme grew up with a multitude of pets and always wanted to care for all animals. Dr. Damme has been a volunteer veterinarian at the Delaware SPCA for over 23 years.
Dr. Damme's family includes his wife Elaine; Ella, a black lab; Mr. Moose a chocolate lab; and 4 cats – Annabelle, Isabella, Little Boy, and Sammy. His hobbies include hiking, biking and the great outdoors.
Dr. F. Morgan Dawkins

Morgan Dawkins, DVM graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1996 and is currently Co-Owner of Windcrest Animal Hospital, Hockessin Animal Hospital, Talleyville Veterinary Hospital and Centreville Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Dawkins has a special interest in exotics as well as surgery, especially orthopedics. He has known since elementary school that he wanted to be a veterinarian. The most memorable experiences of his career were his first day working as a doctor and the day he had a Bengal Tiger cub as a patient at Windcrest. Dr. Dawkins enjoys providing high quality care by continually learning new techniques and information. He is a Past President of the Mid-Atlantic Assoc of Avian Veterinarians, Current President of the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association, is USDA accredited and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Assoc, Assoc of Avian Veterinarians, Assoc of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and the Assoc of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.

Dr. Dawkins has worked with a local Wildlife Rehabilitator providing veterinary care and has given multiple school presentations about pet care and the veterinary field.
His family includes beautiful wife Jennifer, a veterinarian at Hockessin Animal Hospital, and children Collin, Bailey, Sidney and Trevor. Family pets include dogs, Gilly ,a Border Collie currently being trained for sheep herding trials, and Spot; cats Taz, Tahlula and Tibby; a rabbit named Luna; a Guinea Pig named Max; 2 tortoises, Jack and Tortellini; 2 chinchillas, Izzy and Kylie; salt water fish ; pen full of chickens and ducks; and a small flock of sheep for Gilly. His hobbies include woodworking, gardening, motorcycle riding, sitting on the beach in Aruba, and reptiles.
Dr. Lorraine deJager, BVSc, MS, MRCVS
Dr. Lorraine de Jager graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Nursing her own puppy through a bout of distemper inspired Dr. deJager to become a veterinarian. Her most memorable experience in her career was being accepted into the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for a Master's degree and Cardiology residency. She has also assisted in the treatment of buffalo calves and young lions.
Dr. deJager has four children: a veterinarian, a lawyer, an engineer and the youngest is a student at Drexel University. Jopie, a feline, also occupies the household.
Dr. deJager has a special interest in cardiology and provides cardiology services by referral at Windcrest Animal Hospital.
Dr. Hilary Metz

Dr. Hilary Metz, VMD is an Associate Veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital. She graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Dr. Metz has a special interest in radiology and small mammals. Her love of animals inspired her to become a Veterinarian. As a child, she loved science and medicine so a career as a Veterinarian is a perfect fit! |
Dr. Metz's hobbies include reading, cycling, working out and watching movies. Dr. Metz and her husband Brian, recently had a baby boy who they named Graysen Scott. Her pets include Koi, a golden retriever, Olive, a lab mix; and a collection of fresh water fish.
Dr. Debra Miller-Sokolo

Debra Miller-Sokolo, D.V.M., born and raised in Nebraska, has trained as a healer all of her life, first starting by following the medicine women of her family as they treated their patients. At the age of 5, Dr. Miller decided that veterinary medicine was to be her life. She has worked exclusively in veterinary medicine, starting as a kennel girl, since she was 14 years of age. |
Dr. Miller received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1979 and her D.V.M. from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Dr. Miller honed her skills in a mixed animal practice on the island of Kauai. There, challenging cases and strong mentoring from her adopted family of two veterinarians taught her resourcefulness and the true art of medicine. She returned to the Mainland to train in two surgical practices in Las Vegas.
She then worked in both small and large animal medicine in Nebraska and Iowa. Dr. Miller soon realized that the pace and challenge of emergency medicine, especially at night, was her true calling and came East to an emergency/critical care practice in New Jersey. Now, after a time of working in a small animal general practice which has helped to broaden her perspective, Dr. Miller has returned to emergency medicine with the goal of providing competent, compassionate care to those animals- and their people- at their time of greatest need.
Dr. Miller and her husband Frank, avid cyclists and sports fans, have a family of Spinnaker and Tate who are Chesapeake Bay Retrievers; Eastre, a Norwegian Forest Cat; Kalaheo, a barn cat from Nebraska; Inkosi, an African Grey; Wisaye, an Eclectus; swans, an aviary full of finches, koi, and orchids.

Donna Namey, VMD graduated with highest honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991 and is Co-Owner of Windcrest Animal Hospital, Hockessin Animal Hospital, Talleyville Veterinary Hospital and Centreville Veterinary Hospital. She has a special interest in Ultrasonography. Dr. Namey counts her veterinary school acceptance phone call as one of her most memorable experiences. This call allowed her to fulfill her childhood dream of a career caring for pets. The most rewarding part of her job is sending once sick animals home well again. |
Dr. Namey and her husband, George and their children, Jacob and Samuel enjoy spending time together. Dr. Namey is a frequent guest speaker at her children's school. She also enjoys gardening, scrap booking and her family's pets; dog: Pumpkin; and cats: Hope, Annabell and Stripe.
Dr. Louis Snijders, BVSc

Dr. Louis Snijders graduated from Ondersteporrt, University of Pretoria in South Africa. His mother, Dr. Lorraine deJager, is also a veterinarian and since he took his first steps at a veterinary practice, Dr. Snijders has always wanted to make a difference in the quality of life for animals and seeing the joy on their owners' faces.
Dr. Snijders is an Associate Veterinarian at Windcrest Animal Hospital and is part of the Critical Care & Emergency Care team. His most memorable experience in his veterinary career was doing three esophageal surgeries in one week shortly after graduating. |
Dr. Snijders, wife Rachel, sons Anthonie and Tristan have a family of pets including Shinto, a Jack Russel Terrior; Regie a budgie; as well as Billy, Nanny, Casper and 160 other cashmere goats. Dr. Snijders' hobbies include classic cars, sport photography and farming. He is also an internationally qualified fencing referee and has participated as a fencer in various countries.
